Overview
SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT/DBIDS(MCESS)
Bowhead is seeking a highly qualified Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide direct programmatic, technical, and cybersecurity support for the Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS), Marine Corps Electronic Security System (MCESS), and Physical Security initiatives in Charleston, SC. This role supports the Installation Security and Mission Assurance Branch at HQMC and MCICOM. The preferred candidates will have the ability to travel 25% or more to CONUS and OCONUS Marine Corps Installations.
Responsibilities
Essential functions will include:
DBIDS Program Support
+ Sustain DBIDS operations across Marine Corps installations
+ Provide Tier II/III troubleshooting and coordinate site assistance visits
+ Deliver training Operator and Maintainer training and update training materials as required
+ Track hardware inventory and manage lifecycle replacement
+ Monitor cybersecurity posture, ATO/RMF status, and IA compliance
+ Generate weekly and monthly reports and After-Action Reviews (AARs)
MCESS & Physical Security Support
+ Serve as SME for system engineering and cybersecurity compliance
+ Support RMF packages, MCCAST reviews, and vulnerability mitigation
+ Liaise with MCICOM, NIWC Atlantic, HQMC C4, TSA IPT, and others as required
+ Provide weekly briefs and monthly reports
Deliverables
+ Weekly DBIDS and MCESS status briefs
+ Monthly reports on metrics, readiness, and cybersecurity posture
+ AARs for site visits, outages, inspections, and training
+ RMF milestone tracking and updated training materials
Qualifications
+ Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience
+ Bachelor’s degree required
+ Experience with using theDefense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS)
+ DoD 8570/8140 cybersecurity certification preferred (Security +, GSEC, CASP or CISSP)
+ Ability to travel extensively both domestically and internationally
+ Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
+ Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
+ Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
Travel Requirements:
+ Active Passport.
+ Ability to travel 25%, both CONUS and OCONUS.
+ On some occasions, overnight travel may be required.

+ Must be able to lift up to 10-25 pounds
+ Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
+ Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
**SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:** Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
