Job Title: 3rd Shift Trailer Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Trailer Technician to join our team for the 3rd shift. The role involves troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing electrical and mechanical issues on trailers using advanced diagnostic equipment. You will perform preventive maintenance and ensure compliance with DOT inspection guidelines. This position requires physical capability to manage heavy lifting and flexible movement.

Responsibilities

+ Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical and mechanical trailer-related issues using standard testing procedures and computer diagnostic equipment.

+ Perform preventive maintenance on a fleet of trailers, including checking tire pressure, tread depth, and wear patterns.

+ Weld and fabricate as needed on trailer equipment.

+ Perform DOT inspections per FMSCA guidelines.

+ Inspect and lubricate trailer chassis, door latches, hinges, and landing gear.

+ Service gearboxes and liftgate mechanisms, and grease the fifth wheel and all grease zerks.

+ Test and inspect lights and electrical systems, including brake, turn, marker, and hazard lights.

+ Inspect suspension and running gear components, including springs, hangers, shock absorbers, U-bolts, and torque arms.

+ Check air suspension components and air tanks for moisture, and inspect hoses and lines for chafing or leaks.

+ Conduct thorough inspections of body, doors, latches, holdbacks, roof bows, and floor condition.

+ Verify mud flaps, license plate, and permits are in place.

+ Inspect coupling devices such as kingpin, fifth wheel, landing gear legs, and braces.

Essential Skills

+ Minimum of 3 years of trailer preventive maintenance experience.

+ Proficiency with hand and power tools.

+ Strong mechanical aptitude.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Reefer experience is a plus.

+ EPA 608 certification is a plus.

Work Environment

The work environment is non-climate controlled, requiring adaptability to varying temperatures. The position involves 3rd shift hours from 7:00 PM to 5:30 AM, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Terrell, Texas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
