General Job Description: Project Engineer (Plumbing Focused)
The Project Engineer will work closely with a Project Manager and report to the Sales Manager, supporting the technical coordination of assigned projects. This role requires consistent communication across project disciplines, including clients, architects, and vendors. It provides the opportunity to build expertise in estimating, scheduling, and design within a design-build construction environment utilizing BIM methodologies and modern technologies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Project Support
+ Draft proposals, letters, memos, subcontracts, change orders, and related project documents.
+ Develop, maintain, and submit key project documentation such as RFIs, submittals, procurement logs, and shop drawings.
+ Participate in and coordinate internal and external meetings, including kickoff, BIM, and scheduling sessions.
+ Support estimating tasks including takeoffs, vendor/subcontractor quotes, bid compilation, and change order packages.
+ Oversee project progress and quality on-site, providing technical solutions for construction and installation challenges.
+ Interpret technical plans and specifications for project teams.
Procurement & Financial Support
+ Assist with vendor and subcontractor buyout, procurement tracking, and material delivery coordination.
+ Contribute to project financials including installation tracking, labor forecasting, invoice review, and billing.
+ Support project closeout tasks including O&M manuals, commissioning, as-builts, and warranty documentation.
Collaboration & Communication
+ Keep project management informed of issues impacting scope, schedule, or budget, and escalate challenges when needed.
+ Contribute to planning, design interpretation, value engineering, and alternate solution reviews.
+ Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and cross-functional internal teams across engineering, fabrication, construction, accounting, purchasing, and legal.
+ Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Position Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (mechanical concentration strongly preferred).
+ 2+ years of experience in project engineering, preferably in plumbing or mechanical systems.
+ Career progression opportunities available toward senior project engineering roles based on performance.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
+ Preferred experience with systems such as JDE, IFS, BidTracer, FastEst, Bluebeam, Box, and Smartsheet.

Physical Requirements
+ Regularly required to sit, use hands for computer and phone, talk, and hear.
+ Frequently required to stand, walk, reach overhead, climb, or balance; occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling during site visits.
+ Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly and 20 pounds occasionally.
+ Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision.
Hours
This is a non-exempt position, Monday through Friday, with typical hours between 6:00 am and 5:00 pm. Includes a one-hour lunch and two breaks. Occasional overtime may be required.
Travel
Travel to project sites, regional offices, and client locations as required.
Compensation
$69,000 – $136,000 annually. Actual compensation is determined by skills, experience, certifications, education, and location. Total compensation may include additional elements beyond base salary.
