    Jacobs is seeking an Entry Level Transportation Engineer (Highway/ Roadways) to join our Transportation team in Nashville, TN, working on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients’ challenges locally and worldwide.

     

    This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our team and be involved in a variety of engineering tasks for our clients, including planning, design, and maintenance of large-scale infrastructure projects.

     

    In this position you will work with a multidisciplinary team taking on a variety of tasks that blend your theoretical knowledge with practical application. Under the guidance of professional engineers, architects and other senior technical staff you will provide design and engineering services for highways, expressways, and major road networks.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Design and engineering services for highways, expressways, and major road networks.

    * Preparation of right-of-way plans, detailed roadway designs, drainage, floodplain management, and intersection improvements

    * Utilizing CADD to prepare various engineering drawings, layouts, and/or models to communicate project details in accordance with established standards and procedure

    * Collaboration with environmental scientists, utility locates, and surveyors to meet stringent requirements and address maintenance and improvement needs

    * Assist in providing technical and operational support for exposure to:

    * Highway engineering principles, standards, and practices;

    * Project Delivery for key clients (including the design, environmental, and procurement processes);

    * Various Related Highway Disciplines (Stormwater management, green infrastructure, utilities, structures, etc).

     

    This position demands exceptional time management skills, the ability to work effectively in a team environment, and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. You’ll take ownership of the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assigned to you by demonstrating the ability to progress from basic design work assignments to more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a technical team. Your ability to manage your time and responsibilities effectively while maintaining a high standard of work will be instrumental in delivering successful project outcomes.

    * Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering

    * Course work related to transportation

    * Previous design intern experience

    Ideally, you’ll also have:

    * Engineer in Training (EIT) or ability to obtain within 6 months.

    * Knowledge of and experience using CADD/Design software (Microstation/Inroads or AutoCAD/Civil 3D)

    * Ability to utilize design manuals, as needed.

    * Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future
