Adecco Healthcare & Life Sciences is assisting our client hire a Licensed Veterinary Technician in Troutville, Virginia. This role is in person / on site. Please read below and apply with an updated resume for consideration:

**Type:** Full time, direct hire with client

**Schedule:** Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm

**Pay:** $23.00 an hour

Diagnostic/Technical Skills:

• Know and understand emergency protocols (A, B, C’s)

• Perform emergency procedures including: administer pharmacologic agents under veterinary supervision, apply temporary bandages or splints, provide external supportive treatment of wounds, burns, etc.

• Perform blood draws (Canine and Feline; jugular, cephalic, saphenous)

• Place IV catheters

• Perform cystocentesis (blind and ultrasound-guided) and urinary catheterization

• Calculate drug dosages and fluid rates

• Administer SQ, IM, and IV drugs

• Maintain drug logs

• Perform blood pressure measurement (doppler)

• Perform ECG

• Monitor hospitalized patients and alert the doctor of any changes

• Perform in house urinalysis, fecal, skin scrapings, ear swabs, and other cytology upon request

• Surgical patient preparation using aseptic technique

• Assist with intubation and extubation

• Monitoring patients recovering from anesthesia

• Monitor anesthesia and maintain accurate records

• Perform routine dental cleanings and dental radiographs

• Maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment

• Assist in surgical procedures as required

Client services:

• Discuss discharge instructions with owners and answer questions regarding home care and follow up

• Inform owner of lab results as directed by a doctor

• Provide client education regarding nutrition, parasite control, vaccination protocols, spaying and neutering, and other topics

Required:

• Current active licensure as a Licensed Veterinary Technician in the Commonwealth of Virginia

• 1+ year of Veterinary Technician experience

**Pay Details:** $23.00 per hour
