Job Title: Sr. Sponsored Programs Analyst
Job Description
The Sr Sponsored Programs Analyst exercises objective and independent judgement in interpreting regulations and contract language, negotiating terms and conditions, managing contract compliance, and making recommendations to departments and leadership. The Analyst is knowledgeable in state, federal, foundation, and other research grant funding mechanisms including pre-award and post-award functions. They provide mentorship on these areas to junior analysts and collaborate with research unit stakeholders and other shared research services departments to ensure compliant, timely, effective, and efficient management of all research activities.
Responsibilities
+ Orients, trains, and provides guidance to new staff and Sponsored Programs Analysts to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
+ Reads and interprets funding opportunity announcements, including federal grant requests, to assist faculty and staff during proposal preparation and submission phases.
+ Creates, reviews, revises, and negotiates research-related contracts, including amendments, consistent with institutional policies and procedures.
+ Prepares and reviews research budgets to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and sponsor/funder terms.
+ Coordinates pre-award activities including completion of grant documents and assembly of proposal packages.
+ Coordinates post-award activities including submission of technical and financial progress reports, budget revisions, forecasting results, and funding trend analyses.
+ Verifies that all research requirements have been met and files are properly assembled for submission.
+ Consults with stakeholders and partners to solve problems related to research studies.
+ Follows, develops, and updates established processes pre and post-award to ensure compliance and timely execution of contracts.
+ Facilitates the execution of grant agreements and serves as a liaison with responsible teams and departments.
+ Interacts with management and staff to provide useful information, guidance, and integrity to grant-related activities.
+ Develops, updates, and communicates policies and procedures in research administration.
Essential Skills
+ Knowledge and understanding of grant and contract funding mechanisms, related policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
+ Ability to synthesize complex requirements of research-related grants and other related contract terms.
+ Knowledge of related federal and state regulations as they relate to research administration.
+ Proficiency in grant submission portals such as ASSIST, eRA Commons, FastLane, and foundation grant sites.
+ Knowledge of research compliance requirements.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative style.
+ Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in legal studies, business administration, finance, accounting, or research-related field OR paralegal certification.
+ Three years’ experience in research or contract administration, preferably in an academic or medical setting.
+ Experience in reviewing, writing, editing, and negotiating contracts.
Work Environment
This position offers a remote work environment with the possibility of travel to onsite locations 2-3 years.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Altamonte Springs, Florida.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $45.00/hr.
