    Job Summary

    The Quality Engineer is responsible for leading projects to continuously improve the quality of our products and processes. Working as a project leader, this engineer works closely with department leadership to define improvement targets, drive corrective action to reduce defects, and measure & analyze process capabilities to implement improvements.

     

    This is a hybrid role in our corporate headquarters in suburban Philadelphia (Colmar, PA) Monday through Thursday with the ability to work remotely on Friday.

    Primary Duties

    + Coordinate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to resolve product and process issues.

    + Ensure quality issues for new and existing products are addressed proactively using Advanced Quality Planning tools including FMEA, Control plans, Process Flow Charts, and Statistical Process Capability

    + Educate contributors on quality system requirements, as well as problem solving and continuous improvement methodologies

    + Actively contribute to cross-functional teams

    + Support product development and reverse engineering functions

    + Support local site quality and operations

    + Implement controls to prevent reoccurrence on nonconformances

    Qualifications

    + Experience within a manufacturing environment and a good understanding of manufacturing processes

    + Working knowledge of product qualification testing, inspection tools & equipment, supplier quality activities

    + Working knowledge of root cause analysis techniques: 8D, 3x5Y, Shainin, DFSS, DMAIC

    + Working knowledge of APQP processes: DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP

    + Knowledge in automotive vehicle component function and system infrastructure

    + Automotive product experience preferred

    + Computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite; focus on Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

    + Knowledge of materials; plastic, rubber, and especially metals

    + Demonstrated leading of Continuous Improvement activities

    + Exposure and use of statistical applications a plus

    + Working knowledge of materials, finishes, and specifications (SAE, ASME, ANSI, etc.)

    + Creating, implementing, and improving Procedures and Work Instructions

    + Physical Requirement: Capability to lift 20 pounds

    + Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one location to another, and speak and actively listen. Noise level is usually moderate.

     

    Education / Experience

     

    + BS degree in engineering discipline; minimum 3 years’ experience working on product/process projects

    + Minimum 1 years’ experience in root cause analysis/problem solving.

    + Experience within manufacturing environments; good understanding of manufacturing processes.
