Job Title: Fleet Trainer
Department: Human Resources
Reports To: Training & Development Manager
Summary: The Fleet Trainer is responsible for training the individuals who drive company vehicles in a safe, timely and efficient manner while ensuring we are in compliance with both company standards and external standards (FMCSR, etc.). This individual is a person of integrity & respect that trains through honest dialogue and constructive feedback. The individual should also be a proactive thinker, embracing a mindset of thorough planning & continuous improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
+ Assists in developing, implementing and continuous improvement of our Fleet Safety training programs, including both on the job and virtual trainings through company LMS.
+ Manages the onboarding of drivers, including training and evaluating them on company driving standards and expectations in their initial weeks of employment.
+ Performs annual driver observations and re-training as necessary.
+ Observations may include riding with each driver at their warehouse locations or virtual ride-a-longs to observe driving performance and safety performance and develops action plan for improvement alongside their manager when necessary.
+ Participates in company accident committee and integrates findings in to training program
+ Interprets and complies with transportation regulations (FMCSR, safety regulations, Fleet Safety Program). and company policies and procedures for workers.
+ Adheres to safety, food safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations.
+ Reports safety, food safety, and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience:
• High School Diploma or GED;
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from four-year College or university – preferred but not required;
• Three years’ experience in transportation, warehousing or related field
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word software.
• Knowledge of Learning Management Systems and/or content creators preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
• CDL Class A License preferred.
• Smith System Certified Trainer certification preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to travel up to 50% of travel.
