    The Division of Administration/Office of State Building has a vacancy. This job title has an assigned pay grade of WS-213.

     

    The Office of State Buildings is responsible for the operations and maintenance of over 41 State buildings. This position performs highly skilled machining and overhaul work by fabricating new and repairing existing metal parts for mechanical and electrical equipment and to dismantle and reassemble equipment to exacting tolerances to insure reliability of operation.

     

    The Division of Administration is the state government’s management arm and the hub of its financial operations. Division offices perform a wide variety of activities including the following:

     

    + Overseeing the state’s capital construction program

    + Working to provide state and federal grants for community development

    + Development of the state budget

    + Providing technology services

    + Giving agencies guidance in the state purchasing and contracting process as they seek goods and services

    + Administering a program that provides federal funds to help Louisiana residents recover from a series of devastating hurricanes

    Minimum Qualifications

    One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:

    Three years of experience or training in the machinist trade; OR

     

    Completion of the Industrial Machine Shop program at a State technical institute or equivalent program plus one year of experience in the machinist trade.

    Job Duties and Other Information

    Job Duties:

    • Perform preventative maintenance to all equipment listed above and perform all assigned task in a timely manner.

    • Make precision alignments on pumps, air handlers, motors, cooling towers, etc.

    • Troubleshoot various equipment to be repaired such as pumps, cooling, air handlers and motors. Make repairs to all equipment as needed such as the changing of bearings, seals and shafts.

    • Fabricate parts for various equipment, utilizing machines such as, lathes, mill machines and drill presses. Tasks to be performed using various types of metals and precession tools with “0” tolerance.
