    The Department of Physics at Colorado State University has roughly 20 faculty members with research programs in atomic, molecular, and optical physics; condensed matter physics; and high-energy physics and particle astrophysics.     Position Summary

    TheDepartment of Physics, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado, seeks to hire a tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor with research interests inexperimentalhigh-energy physicsand/orexperimental particle astrophysics. Candidates with research experience in these areas or related fields are encouraged to apply, especially those whose research interests complement the CSU program in high-energy physics and particle astrophysics.

     

    Members of the CSU High-Energy Physics and Particle Astrophysics research group work on several forefront experiments to explore the fundamental properties of neutrinos: the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment ( DUNE ), NOvA, the Fermilab Short-Baseline Neutrino ( SBN ) Program, EXO -200, and nEXO. Previous research contributions to particle astrophysics experiments include dark matter searches at DRIFT and study of ultra-high-energy cosmic rays at the Pierre Auger Observatory. The group has a strong core of both experimentalists and theorists who often collaborate with each other.

     

    The appointed individual is expected to: (1) build a forward looking and internationally recognized research program within the framework of their individual areas of interest and expertise that is consistent with the goals and objectives of a university environment; (2) actively participate in the teaching/mentoring/advising of undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers; (3) participate in department and university administrative governance functions; (4) engage in scholarly/professional endeavors to support their continued growth as a teacher and a scholar; and (5) fulfill the general faculty responsibilities in theAcademic Faculty and Administrative Professional Manual,https://facultycouncil.colostate.edu/faculty-manual/.

    Required Job Qualifications

    Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in physics or a related field. Applicants must also have research experience in experimental high-energy physics, experimental particle astrophysics, or a field closely related to one of these two research areas.

    Preferred Job Qualifications

    1. Postdoctoral and/or substantial experience beyond the Ph.D. is expected. Candidates should have an excellent record of research that includes significant publications in refereed journals. Evidence of initiative and leadership in physics research.

    2. Ability to develop an internationally recognized research program that complements existing programs in the CSU Department of Physics and provides compelling opportunities for students.

    3. Potential to contribute to teaching/mentoring/advising undergraduate and graduate students in the CSU Department of Physics, including evidence of good communication skills.
