Minimum Qualifications
+ Experience in early childhood, child care, or closely related field
+ Possess or be qualified to receive Louisiana Pathways Trainer approval
+ Must have CLASS observer certification or able to pass certification within 12 months of hire date
+ Bachelor's degree or college work in child development, early childhood, child and family studies or closely related field preferred
+ Experience in conducting workshops, seminars, or other training for adults; good public speaking and presentation skills. Experience as early childhood program director a plus
+ Ability to travel as necessary, possibly overnight, to complete responsibilities following NSU Child and Family Network policies
+ Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
+ Good organizational skills
+ Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
+ Good computer skills in word-processing and database programs adequate to meet registration and reporting responsibilities
+ Ability to work well with persons of all ages, races, sex, etc.
+ Knowledge of the region's child care community, needs, and services available to parents a plus.
+ Ability to work evenings and Saturdays and to assist with innovative and special projects
Job Duties and Other Information
+ Develop and maintain good relationships with child care centers, other providers and collaborating agencies
+ Serve as a role model of continual training and professionalism, continuing to enhance skills as required by contracts and agency goals
+ Promote the value and importance of training in early learning to child care owners, directors, and staff, and to public officials and the public
+ Respond to inquiries about training and promote training according to guidelines
+ Attend out-of-town and statewide meetings as scheduled or needed, provide services listed above to Northwest Louisiana early learning programs
+ Publicize the services offered via outreach such as career fairs, exhibitions, and community events for which are responsible
+ Stay abreast of providers' needs, concerns, and interests
+ Assess needs and provide coaching to staff on developmental stages of children and developmentally appropriate interactions based on these stages. Coaching is primarily one-on-one site visits
+ Provide coaching and training on curriculum implementation such as My Coaching Partner, LENA, CLASS, and other topics as needed
+ Assist other trainers when needed or requested, develop, revise, and maintain training materials according to guidelines
+ Assist with evaluation of training, including data on pre- post-tests, surveys, and focus groups
+ Conduct workshops and training that leads to the CDA Credential and Ancillary Certificate according to agency and Louisiana Department of Education guidelines
+ Enter data promptly and maintain paper and database records on training, coaching, and other activities according to NSU Child and Family Network policies
+ Maintain knowledge of current training requirements by the Bureau of Licensing, Health Department, Ancillary Certificate and CDA credential requirements, Network projects, Birth to Five Early Learning Standards, quality ratings, and other guidelines
+ Maintain knowledge of resources available to parents, employers, and others affected by child cate such as materials for providers and parents such as agency brochures and flyers, questions to ask and criteria in selecting a child care provider, and other topics of concerns and interests
+ Promote Louisiana Pathways enrollment and scholarships to child care staff
+ Assist in compiling reports for contracts and other services according to NSU Child and Family Network policies
+ Conduct child screening as needed or requested using designated screening materials and provide training on how to support child's development. (May be required in some positions)
+ Conduct parent engagement experiences and support staff in parent engagement
+ Other tasks as needed to fulfill the job goals and responsibilities or as assigned
