Braille Instructional Assistant

Salary: $1040 / Week
Under the supervision of the program instructor(s) and/orthe program administrator, the Braille Instructional Assistant will supportinstructional activities by transcribing materials into Braille and providedtutoring to visually impaired students. The Braille Instructional Assistant will enable students to developcompetencies and skills to function in a successful and positive manner.
Minimum Requirements:
+ Certification as a Literary Braille Transcriber orProofreader is required per state/contract
+ Minimum six months of experience performing basic Brailletranscription; OR satisfactory completion of a course in braille transcriptionfrom the National Federation of the Blind preferred
+ Must be able use computer notation and other electronicequipment used by the blind and visually impaired
+ Must have knowledge and skill related to embossing tools,media, and understand the concepts to be presented when preparing tactilematerials
+ Must be flexible, cooperative, and be able to maintain HIPPA
+ Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
+ Current CPR if applicable
+ TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
+ Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
