    **PDS Tech Commercial** is seeking an experienced **Materials Engineer** to support the Scattershot program, focusing on material selection, characterization, and lifing for aerospace components. Material Lifing is when you analyze the material to understand what the life of the material will be so that you know when to inspect for and/or replace components. This high-impact role requires deep technical expertise and a strong understanding of how materials perform over time in demanding environments.     Key Responsibilities:

    + **Material Characterization:**

    + Analyze and characterize metals, polymers, and composites using advanced instrumentation (e.g., SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR)

    + Interpret microstructural and compositional data to assess performance

    + **Material Lifing:**

    + Evaluate degradation mechanisms and life expectancy of materials

    + Conduct accelerated life testing and environmental exposure assessments

    + Develop predictive models for material lifespan

    + **Reporting & Documentation:**

    + Prepare comprehensive reports detailing methodologies, findings, and recommendations

    + Ensure documentation meets industry and regulatory standards

    + **Collaboration:**

    + Advise engineers and design teams on material selection and application

    + Participate in technical meetings and project planning sessions

    + **Continuous Improvement:**

    + Stay current with advancements in material science and lifing methodologies

    + Identify and implement process improvements and best practices

    Required Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

    + 4–6 years of experience in materials engineering or a related field

    + Experience in material selection for aerospace components

    + Hands-on experience with material characterization techniques

    + Proven understanding of material lifing and degradation analysis

    + Familiarity with engineering blueprints and specifications

    + Strong judgment and creativity in solving complex engineering challenges
