As an Education Program Specialist in the Special Education Division of the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), you will provide professional assistance to division and program monitoring staff with day-to-day education program compliance requirements in order to meet mandatory state and federal laws and rules in relation to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Duties will include:
+ Lead the process of district's correction tracking for the program monitoring unit through review of individual learner records;
+ Facilitate monitoring responsibilities through the use of a web-based monitoring system, online platforms, and data tracking systems;
+ Assist with the monitoring of special education programs to determine their level of compliance with mandatory state and federal laws and state rules and statutes;
+ Coordinate and consolidate supervision data across all Minnesota districts to include district performance on compliance indicators, program monitoring, and fiscal monitoring uncorrected.
This position is eligible for telework to applicants who reside in Minnesota or a bordering state. Effective June 1, employees living within 50 miles of the office location listed above will be required to work in the office at least 50% of the time each month. For those who live 50 or more miles away, with supervisory approval and satisfactory performance are eligible to telework up to 100% of the time
Minimum Qualifications

Four (4) years of professional experience in teaching special education
OR
A bachelor's or master's degree and three (3) years of professional experience in teaching with coursework in special education
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience in Stepwell MN
+ Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
+ Experience with database management
+ Experience with customer service and technical support
+ Experience with project management
+ Knowledge of special education due process law
+ Experience in designing and implementing data collection and reporting systems
