Job Summary and Qualifications

Job Summary:

+ Provides leadership and supervision of the technical staff for the production of high quality MRI work.

+ Performs appropriate quality control and performance functions following manufacturer’s, physicist’s, and ACR’s guidelines.

+ Reports and documents problems relating to staffing, work methods, and procedures for the personnel assigned to him/her in consultation with the Manager and/or Director of Imaging Services.

+ Monitors condition, care, and maintenance of MRI equipment.

+ Provides documentation of problems, response time of service organization, and completion of repairs.

+ Trouble shoots repairs to avoid unnecessary downtime.

+ Ensures completed procedures are placed in “taken” status in Meditech, as well as, verified on PACS. Ensures staff are educated on this also.

+ Provides new employee orientation of the department and ensures all competency assessments are performed in a timely manner.

+ Consults with the manager/director of Imaging for employee coaching, disciplines, and annual performance evaluations.

+ Coordinates with the anesthesia department for all MRIs performed under MAC or general anesthesia for start times, transportation to MRI department, and PACU is scheduled if not ICU patient.

+ Follows established guidelines for reporting significant medical errors or unanticipated outcomes in the patient’s care.

+ Assumes responsibility for timely follow through on any STAT procedures or CALL REPORTS.

+ Ensures all exams are interpreted timely.

+ Operates MRI equipment to capture diagnostically acceptable images using established department protocols of designated portions of the body.

+ Adjusts equipment and patient to correct positions for each examination.

+ Selects the appropriate coil needed for the procedure. Instructs and explains the procedures to patients.

+ Selects proper technical factors, on an individual patient basis and according to established protocols.

+ Seeks clarification of protocols as necessary from referring provider.

+ Completes Meditech charges and exam status updates in a timely manner (within 30 minutes of exam completion).

+ Demonstrates customer service principals at all times and coaches staff on service excellence.

+ Prepares documentations and collects appropriate exams for the American College of Radiology accreditation submission, when due.

+ Ensures department is functioning at Joint Commission inspection readiness at all times.

+ Abides by all department, hospital, state, and federal policies and procedures or regulations, completing documentation as stated and required. Educates staff on same.

+ Understands and utilizes MRI procedures, related computer functions to improve diagnostic outcome of procedures.

+ Other duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

+ (ARRT-MR) Magnetic Resonance Imaging

+ Vocational School Graduate

+ Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
