Job Title: Phlebotomist - Ocala, Fl

Job Description

The primary role of the Phlebotomist is to assist in various duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and recommend workflow improvements.

Responsibilities

+ Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens according to established protocols.

+ Record maintenance data and ensure decontamination practices are followed.

+ Update and manage patient information accurately.

+ Collect and store specimens in compliance with established procedures.

+ Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture or other specimen collection processes to patients.

+ Demonstrate proficiency in using straight needles and butterfly needles.

+ Understand and adhere to all physicians' orders.

+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes correctly.

+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.

+ Ensure test requisitions or computer labels match scripts 100%.

+ Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.

+ Place samples in appropriate collection containers and tubes, labeling them accurately.

+ Follow specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport.

+ Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

+ Attend annual department trainings.

+ Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results as needed.

Essential Skills

+ Phlebotomy expertise, including blood draw and venipuncture.

+ Experience in specimen collection and laboratory procedures.

+ Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

+ High School Diploma or GED.

+ 2-4 years of relevant experience.

Work Environment

The position is based in a Patient Service Center location, where you will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Ocala, Florida.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.50/hr.
