    Job Description

    The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the facility by performing finished product, packaging, and raw material testing to ensure that released products meet established specifications. This position also involves conducting internal quality and food safety audits to ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Additionally, the role requires maintaining equipment in the milk receiving and laboratories, as well as cross-training on procedures within the main chemistry lab to perform testing as needed.

    Responsibilities

    + Manage the receipt, handling, and testing of finished product, packaging, and raw material samples.

    + Perform component testing on incoming milk, oil, and corn syrup, and conduct cream release testing and review.

    + Carry out ID testing on incoming raw materials for release, usage, and review.

    + Prepare cleaning and zero solutions for FT2, and perform daily calibrations on Charm SL equipment.

    + Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe laboratory environment, adhering to proper policies and procedures to prevent biological contamination and safety hazards.

    + Record temperatures of laboratory refrigerators and incubators daily.

    + Order and track inventory of laboratory consumables.

    + Revise procedures, protocols, and process flows as necessary.

    + Accurately record, review, and verify results using Good Documentation Practices (GDPs).

    + Perform tasks in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).

    + Execute the Internal Control Plan (ICP) for laboratory equipment.

    + Enter laboratory results into SAP and other data management systems.

    + Consolidate, trend, and report laboratory data to operational teams.

    + Complete all necessary transactions in SAP.

    + Communicate out-of-norm results promptly to resolve deviations.

    + Manage the receipt, storage, and inventory of all laboratory consumables.

    + Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly quality and food safety internal audits of the facility.

    + Work safely and report any unsafe conditions.

    + Actively participate in continuous improvement teams.

    + Obtain and maintain appendix N certification and successfully complete annual split samples.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor's degree in a life science discipline.

    + Experience working within a laboratory setting, which can be from education.

    + Understanding of lab environment and GMP guidelines.

    + Ability to perform quality assurance checks, inspections, and lab tests.

    + Desire and ability to work 3rd shift and grow long-term with the organization.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Proficiency in biology, chemistry, and laboratory practices.

    + Experience with quality control, quality assurance, and batch record review.

    + Knowledge of food science, USDA, HACCP, SQF, QC, GMP, wet chemistry, titration, and chemical testing.

    Work Environment

    The QA Technician will work with two other team members in the lab on the third shift, which operates from 6 pm to 6 am on a 2-2-3 schedule. The role involves spending time on the manufacturing floor to collect samples for bulk testing, which includes tests on milk, sugar, oil, and more. Responsibilities also include sensory testing and instrument calibration, as well as income material checks and testing. Initial training may occur on the first shift, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
