    Job Title: Controls Engineer

    Job Description

    We are seeking a skilled Automation/Controls Engineer to ensure our factory equipment operates smoothly and efficiently. In this role, you will work with automated systems such as robots, PLCs (programmable logic controllers), and drives to troubleshoot issues, enhance performance, and lead projects that incorporate new technologies.

    Responsibilities

    + Diagnose and resolve issues with automated machines and systems.

    + Enhance equipment performance using Lean or TPM methodologies.

    + Lead or support initiatives to install and integrate new automated equipment.

    + Train maintenance personnel in the use and troubleshooting of automation systems.

    + Maintain and update technical documentation and machine records.

    + Collaborate with other factories to share knowledge and best practices.

    + Assist in monitoring and maintaining cybersecurity for factory automation systems.

    Essential Skills

    + Degree or technical training in Automation, Controls, or Computer Science.

    + Strong troubleshooting skills with PLCs, drives, and robotics.

    + Experience with SCADA, HMI, and reading electrical diagrams.

    + Familiarity with Windows-based systems and basic networking.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Experience with Siemens Step 7, TIA Portal, or Robot Studio.

    + Hands-on experience in an industrial setting, ideally with an OEM or integrator.

    + Willingness to be called onsite occasionally for off-hours support if needed.

    + Knowledge of advanced troubleshooting and technical expertise in automation systems.

    + Experience leading automation projects and implementing process improvements using Lean/TPM principles.

    + Understanding of network principles and OT security protocols.

    + Ability to manage and maintain secure automation environments.

    Work Environment

    The role is based in a manufacturing environment where food packaging is produced. It is a clean setting, not requiring beard nets, and includes a desk area. However, the role also demands hands-on work on the factory floor. Employees enjoy 2 weeks of PTO, 6 sick days, and 5 holidays. Though salaried, overtime is compensated when working directly.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a long-term Contract position based out of Vancouver, Washington.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
