    Principal Test Engineer

     

    We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Test Engineer based in Jacksonville, FL. This role involves leading spacecraft testing efforts, integrating mechanical and electrical systems, and supporting prototype development. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience in aerospace testing and be comfortable with approximately 10–15% travel to testing sites.

    Responsibilities

    + Lead and manage spacecraft testing campaigns with a focus on mechanical systems and electrical integration.

    + Develop comprehensive test plans and design ground support equipment (GSE) for risk mitigation and requirements verification.

    + Coordinate subsystem and vehicle-level integration testing processes.

    + Identify and implement improvements to testing methodologies and workflows.

    + Support the development of practical and measurable product requirements.

    + Maintain and monitor test equipment and ensure facility readiness for testing activities.

    + Mentor and guide a team of test engineers and technicians.

    + Analyze test data and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders.

    + Collaborate with design teams to incorporate system changes based on test outcomes.

    + Ensure adherence to safety protocols and manage team training.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.

    + Minimum 10 years of experience in aerospace environmental testing.

    + Extensive experience in vibration, thermal vacuum, acoustic, EMI/EMC, and EFC testing.

    + Proficient in metrology and data acquisition using manual and electronic measurement tools.

    + Skilled in classical and computational analysis for interpreting finite element predictions and test results.

    + Proven ability to support business development through technical briefings and cost estimation for testing efforts.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + CAD design experience for mechanical systems and mechanisms.

    + Familiarity with rapid prototyping techniques for concept validation.

    + Ability to design custom tests and develop specialized test equipment.

    + Experience in generating requirements and establishing verification criteria.

    + Adaptability across multiple engineering disciplines.

    + Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $91.35/hr.
