    Position Overview

    We are seeking an emerging hybrid legal-technology professional to join our Legal Transformation team as a Legal Technology Analyst. This role is designed for exceptional candidates who bridge the gap between legal understanding and technical capability. You will work directly with both attorneys and our Legal Technology team to implement AI-powered solutions, automate routine legal processes, and build the technical infrastructure that will revolutionize how our 500+ legal professionals deliver value to the business.

     

    This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of legal service delivery at the world’s largest pharma company. The ideal candidate combines intellectual curiosity about law with hands-on technical skills, demonstrating comfort with AI tools like Claude or ChatGPT and basic coding literacy. You will be at the forefront of deploying cutting-edge legal technology while learning from both senior attorneys and technology leaders across the organization.

    Key Responsibilities

    + AI Implementation & Training: Deliver training programs for legal staff on generative AI tools (Claude, Copilot, Harvey, etc.). Create prompt engineering guidelines and use case libraries specific to legal workflows. Monitor AI tool adoption rates and intervene when usage falls below targets.

    + Process Automation: Identify repetitive legal processes suitable for automation using no-code/low-code platforms. Build and maintain automated workflows in tools like Harvey or Power Automate. Create Python scripts or SQL queries to extract data from legal databases and matter management systems. Partner with IT to integrate legal tools with enterprise systems.

    + Change Management Support: Create digital adoption materials including video tutorials, quick reference guides, and knowledge base articles. Serve as first-line support for legal staff experiencing technology challenges. Track and report on technology adoption metrics, user feedback, and resistance patterns. Collaborate with the PMO to ensure technology initiatives align with broader transformation goals.

    + Innovation Catalyst: Participate in legal hackathons and innovation challenges to prototype new solutions. Contribute to the Legal Technical Transformation Engage and represent the team at industry conferences. Develop a network of hybrid legal-tech professionals across peer companies.

    Basic Requirements

    + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Legal Studies, or related field.

    + Experience and basic proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, SQL, JavaScript preferred).

    + Experience with AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) for professional or academic projects

    Additional Skills/Preferences

    + Technology Passion: Personal projects using AI, automation, or legal technology tools. Active participation in legal tech communities, forums, or open-source projects. Blog posts, YouTube videos, or other content demonstrating legal-tech expertise. Completion of online courses in legal technology, prompt engineering, or process automation.

    + Familiarity with data analysis tools and visualization platforms

    + Academic Excellence: Leadership roles in technology clubs, pre-law societies, or innovation competitions. Undergraduate thesis or capstone project related to legal technology or AI applications.

    + Industry Exposure: Internships at law firms, legal departments, or legal technology companies. Participation in legal clinics using technology to expand access to justice. Experience with e-discovery, contract management, or compliance software platforms.

    + Growth Mindset: Demonstrated ability to learn complex subjects independently through online resources. Comfort experimenting with new tools and teaching others what you've learned. Track record of turning abstract concepts into practical implementations.

    + Legal Knowledge

    + Demonstrated interest in law through coursework, internships, or self-study.

    + Understanding of basic legal concepts and terminology (contracts, litigation, compliance).

    + Soft Skills

    + Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities to bridge technical and legal audiences. Strong problem-solving orientation with ability to learn new technologies quickly. Comfort with ambiguity and rapidly changing priorities in transformation environment.

    + Other Information: Flexible role with onsite expectations of 3 days per 5 day work week

    Success in this role creates a foundation for multiple career trajectories within our legal organization. You will develop expertise that positions you as a leader in the emerging field of legal technology, with potential paths toward Legal Operations management, Innovation leadership, or specialized technical roles. Your contributions will directly impact how thousands of legal matters are handled annually, reducing costs, improving outcomes, and freeing attorneys to focus on highest-value work.

     

    You will build a portfolio of successful technology implementations, establish yourself as a go-to resource for legal innovation in a particular practice area, and develop relationships across the Legal function and Lilly at large.

    Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

     

    $57,750 - $129,800

     

    Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
