    Role Summary: The Behavior Intervention Specialist at People's Arc of Suffolk with the support of the Assistant Director of Behavioral Health Services you will create behavioral support plans and provide crisis intervention. The BIS will communicate with supporting staff to teach and model support plans. Together they will create a meaningful opportunity to; enhance people's dignity, assist with decision-making skills, teach prosocial replacement skills. and model/reinforce coping skill to reduce interfering behaviors.

    + Completes Functional Behavior Assessments and other various Psychological assessments as needed.

    + Creates and implements Behavior Support Plans and Restrictive Behavior Support Plans.

    + Assesses and maintains behavioral data.

    + Communicates with direct care staff regularly to review behavioral support, provide training, and act as a mentor to supporting staff.

    + Assists with crisis intervention.

    + Participates in screening/intake meetings for program and residential vacancies.

    + Communicates and documents any events/activities that may hinder the health, safety, and well-being of people by adhering to Federal and New York State regulations and agency policy and procedures.

    + Assists with investigative process for incident management.

    + Acts as a member of the Program Planning Team and as needed, attends annual, semi-annual and team meetings.

     

    Shift: Monday to Friday 8am-4pm

    Requirements

    •Valid NYS Driver’s License

    •Must be SCIP trained or complete within first 3 months

    • Must meet one of the below requirements

    1. Master’s Degree in a clinical or treatment field in Psychology, Social Work, School Psychology, or Applied Psychology as it relates to human development and clinical interventions.

    OR

    2. National Board certification in behavior analysis (BCBA) and a Master’s degree in behavior analysis or a field closely related to clinical or community psychology that is approved by OPWDD

    OR

    3. NYS license in Mental Health Counseling
