We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented **Senior Microbiology Medical Technologist** to join our laboratory team in Asheville, NC. In this role, you will perform a variety of microbiological testing and analysis to support patient care and clinical decision-making. This position offers a competitive hourly rate with opportunities for professional growth.

**Pay:** 22-38/hr. depending on experience

Responsibilities:
+ Perform routine and complex microbiology testing, including culture setup, organism identification, and susceptibility testing.
+ Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
+ Ensure accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of test results in compliance with laboratory quality standards and regulatory requirements (CLIA, CAP, etc.).
+ Document results and maintain detailed laboratory records.
+ Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to provide accurate diagnostic information.
+ Follow all safety protocols and infection control procedures.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field required.
+ ASCP certification (or equivalent) as a Medical Technologist (MT/MLS) preferred.
+ 4-7 years of clinical microbiology experience in a hospital or reference laboratory setting preferred.
+ 2+ years in a supervisory/leadership role within clinical laboratory setting.
+ Hands-on clinical microbiology testing/assays in a hospital or research laboratory setting.
+ Proficiency in performing blood, wound, and urine cultures, with microbial identification using multiple techniques (e.g., bench biochemicals, Vitek, MALDI-ToF).
+ Experience in parasitology microscopic analysis and identification, including trichrome and concentrate preparations.
+ Familiarity with routine instrument operation and basic maintenance of microbiology platforms (e.g., Vitek, MALDI-ToF).
+ Strong bench experience in clinical microbiology; molecular-only or teaching experience in microbiology is not sufficient for this role.
+ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
+ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
