    General Summary:

    The Associate Business Manager will help to increase Private Brand sales, margin, and penetration in Consumables by assisting the Private Brand Business Manager with the identification of new product innovation, improved strategic supplier recommendations and identification of best-in-class retailer practices. The Associate Business Manager will own the execution of new item development process and will function as the project lead to manage new and changed items through the artwork, quality, and sourcing functions.

    Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

    + Partner with Business Manager to set category strategy & goals, establish milestones, outline tactics, and execute plans to support overall Private Brand program and corporate vision.

    + As part of the Assortment Review Process, work with Business Manager to assist in development of category business plans encompassing analysis of current share and penetration, optimal mix, shelf placement, promotional plans and merchandising recommendations.

    + Assist Business Manager with competitive store visit analysis and follow up with suppliers regarding competitive product and display opportunities, promotional programs, competitive artwork review, etc.

    + Function as project lead for Private Brand’s product development process between Merchandising, Private Brands and Quality & Regulatory Compliance. Provide constant and consistent communications between Business Manager, Buyers, Suppliers and 3rd parties, manage timelines, identify and assist in resolving opportunities as they arise.

    + Work directly with suppliers to ensure that new suppliers & items are set up correctly and that support materials are available during category review periods.

    + Manage the new item development process to ensure that new SKUs hit distribution centers in a timely manner to support annual store re-sets, revisions, and cut ins. Monitor trackers to ensure that appropriate quality protocol & timelines are met and artwork is completed and released to supplier.

    + Attend weekly Business Rhythm Meetings and help to resolve issues that arise regarding inventories, service levels, etc.

    + Assist Business Manager in the development of Marketing plans to help drive trial and awareness of our brands and help achieve sales goals. Take lead on executing plans – facilitate submission & entry into Pro3, signage, and communication to stores.

    + Work with Private Brand Suppliers on day-to-day business opportunities such AP issues, supply chain opportunities, supplier & new item set-up, out of stock, packaging needs, cost & retail changes, etc.

    + Represent Private Brand at all relevant Family Dollar meetings, supplier reviews, buying shows, and trade events (PLMA, ECRM, etc.)

    + Work with PB analytics team for ad hoc analysis, weekly updates of performance, and data analysis & reporting for Private Brand Line Reviews. Assist Business Manager with recommended actions and/or next steps.

    + Collaborate with Business Manager, Daymon, Strategic Sourcing, and Global Sourcing on execution of bid & auction calendar. Provide SKUs, suppliers, and contacts to assist with execution of.

    + Other duties and projects as required.

    + Work Environment: Enclosed office facility that maintains normal temperatures. Noise level is at a minimum. Work in stores and in a Visual Merchandising facility will sometimes be required for competitive analysis, merchandising review preparation and other purposes.

     

    Critical Skills

    Minimum Requirements:

    + Bachelor’s degree required, business or marketing preferred.

    + Minimum 2 years of experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods/Grocery/Value Channel/Drug or Mass, preferable in Sales or Merchandising. Prior experience in retail would be ideal.

    + Experience leading teams and driving change through influence.

    + Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are required.

    + Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products.
