    Evaluation Specialist

    Job Description:

    Summary

    The Evaluation Specialist will serve as the primary coordinator and reviewer of real estate evaluations within the bank. Evaluations developed within the bank and by third-party providers must be engaged with independence, consistency, and credibility in mind. The Specialist will manage all evaluation assignments within YouConnect, a vendor management platform. As assignments are processed, the Specialist will serve as a liaison between bank associates and evaluation providers, which requires adherence to various regulations and internal policies. This role is key to the mission of the Appraisal Review Department; however, this opening does not require an appraisal license or certification.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    + Serve as job manager for all residential evaluations to include vendor selection, engagement, tracking, review, revision and reconsideration of value handling, and internal communication regarding valuation outcomes.

    + Fulfill stringent loan closing deadlines, which includes completing the related reviews according to department service level agreements.

    + Communicate on a daily basis with Relationship Managers, Loan Coordinators and department staff regarding status of orders.

    + Ensure that all communication occurs within the YouConnect platform, and that vendor and Appraiser Independence Requirements are honored.

    + Perform evaluation reviews competently, under the training and guidance of certified staff appraisers.

    + Mediate evaluation related issues presented by Relationship Managers according to Reconsideration of Value (ROV) guidance.

    + Engage valuation education and industry news to remain current with regard to appraisal and evaluation related regulations.

    Qualifications

    + General understanding of USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice), particularly with respect to Standards 3 and 4.

    + Knowledge of Federal and state laws, and FDIC regulation related to appraisal and evaluation guidelines.

    + Demonstrated ability to work well with department counterparts, internal customers, external customers, and third-party vendors

    + Strong oral and written communication skills, capable of translating real estate terminology into layman’s terms.

    + Review disposition - technical and constructive, with an emphasis on education and problem-solving.

    + Flexibility required - must be able to multitask and provide service as needed, while also maintaining continuity of the evaluation review workflow.

    + Backup residential appraisal and first tier environmental assessment workflows.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    + None

    Education and/or Experience

    + High School Diploma or equivalent

    + 3 years of real estate research, evaluation production, and/or appraisal training within an FDIC regulated institution.

    + Experience using MLS and CoStar (commercial) data services for research and analysis.

    + Reporting of discerned market trends and conditions.

    + Concluding acceptance of valuations via appraisal review, collateral underwriting, and/or quality control positions.

    Computer and Software Skills

    + Proficient in Microsoft office suite

    + Ability to engage YouConnect, an appraisal management technology platform
