    Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.

     

    + Skill in oral communication and public relations

    + Knowledge of general university policies and procedures

    + Prior coordination or coaching experience with collegiate cheer program

    + Ability to prepare and conduct training for student-athletes

    + Candidate should possess a strong commitment and ability to motivate, teach, counsel, and recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Bachelors’ degree with additional consideration to applicants who possess a Masters degree.

    + USA Cheer Certification

    + Prior experience working with Universal Cheerleaders Assoc. or National Cheerleaders Association

    Job Description

    Texas State University, a member of the Sun Belt Conference, is accepting applications for an Assistant Cheer Coach. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position.

    Job Duties

    The Assistant Cheer Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach with the daily management and administration of the Texas State Spirit program in accordance with all NCAA , Conference and University rules and regulations. Specific areas of responsibility include practice, home events, away events, and competition preparation and strategy; assessment and recruitment of prospective student-athletes; monitoring academic progress of cheer student-athletes; community outreach; program specific and Athletic Department public relations, marketing and fundraising; and other duties as assigned.
