    COMMERCIAL COUNSEL, LAUNCH AND STARLINK

    SpaceX has revolutionized space launch with reusable launch vehicles that dramatically reduce the cost of accessing space. Starship, the most powerful launch system ever developed, will enable humans to become a multiplanetary species. Starlink, our revolutionary satellite constellation, is delivering low-latency broadband internet worldwide.

     

    As a Commercial Counsel, you will provide solutions-based counseling to multiple businesses on a wide variety of complex legal and business issues in the United States and internationally.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Draft, negotiate, and review a broad range of commercial contracts, including launch services agreements, human spaceflight services agreements, and agreements related to the delivery of connectivity for partners in the enterprise, retail, resale, aviation, maritime and backhaul verticals

    + Negotiate and review contracts with U.S. and foreign government entities related to launch services and human spaceflight services

    + Identify and mitigate legal risk by implementing appropriate processes, trainings, and controls for sales and customer support teams

    + Provide legal analysis of applicable laws, regulations and industry guidance

    + Provide legal counseling throughout all stages of the product lifecycle, including product development, product launches, updates, changes, and end-of-life

    + Manage online terms of service for various product lines

    + Support continuous improvements of forms, policies, and processes to help streamline and simplify deals and product/service terms

    + Work cross functionally with business teams across the company to analyze legal risks, devise creative solutions, and develop strong, trusted advisor relationships

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    + JD or foreign equivalent from an accredited law school

    + 4+ years of experience as a lawyer supporting commercial transactions

    PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    + Superlative Academic Credentials

    + Experience at a well-regarded law firm

    + Experience as an in-house lawyer ideally within the tech industry

    + Experience managing legal issues for a high-growth multinational company

    + Experience with US government contracts and/or contracting with non-US government entities.

    + Experience providing legal advice related to commercial technology transactions, ideally internationally and ideally with Fortune 1000 companies

    + Experience building and maintaining relationships with clients based in various geographies and comfortable advising all levels of management

    + Knowledge of consumer protection and regulatory issues

    + The ideal candidate is comfortable with and responsive to rapid developments and changes in direction as well as working with technologies and products and in practice areas without much precedence

    + Diligent and proactive, you have demonstrated excellent legal and business judgment, technical acumen, communication skills, and strategic thinking, along with the ability to work independently and cross-functionally

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    + Must be admitted to the bar, in good standing, in at least one U.S. State

    + This position is based in Washington, DC and requires being onsite - remote work not considered

    + Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed
