This position helps manage projects that support MnDOT’s Blowing Snow Control Shared Services Program. The position works on complex tasks related to right of way, computer-aided design (CAD), and visual planning. Position responsibilities include:
+ Confirm if blowing snow is a problem in certain areas by working with Snow Fence Coordinators
+ Collect and analyze Minnesota winter weather data
+ Visit sites, review aerial photos, and measure open areas to estimate how much snow might blow onto roads
+ Use elevation data and wind patterns to figure out where snow drifts are likely to form
+ Use tools such as MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, ArcMap (GIS), and GPS to complete plan package assembly for blowing snow control plans, specifications, and cost estimates
+ Work with public and private landowners to find practical solutions for snow control
+ Create reports, maps, and plans to help reduce blowing snow on roads
+ Help inspect construction work and use the Transportation Asset Management System (TAMS) to track snow control measure installations.
Weekly travel within the northwest region of Minnesota is required, typically once a week. Approximately 20% of time will be spent in the field performing site reviews, providing construction inspection technical assistance, landowner engagement, and snow fence TAMS inspections.

Minimum Qualifications
Three years para-engineering experience (Transportation Specialist or equivalent) demonstrating:
+ Experience developing construction plans, maps, profiles, sections, elevations, photogrammetry, surveys and/or legal descriptions.
+ Experience using MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoCAD sufficient to import points and surfaces, create alignments and profiles, create sheets (plan, profile, cross sections), and create 3D corridors.
+ Experience applying road design standards and construction practices.
+ Experience communicating and engaging with others while maintaining tact, diplomacy and sensitivity.
+ Valid class D driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience using Bluebeam including editing/manipulation, commenting/markups, session creation, etc.
+ Experience using Bentley ProjectWise file management software.
+ Experience using P6 scheduling software.)
