Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Materials Test Technician to support our automotive division. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in materials testing who thrives in a dynamic, technical environment. The technician will be responsible for executing a wide range of physical tests on automotive materials to evaluate performance under various environmental and mechanical conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Conduct diverse and complex technical assignments involving materials testing.
+ Perform setup, fabrication, and execution of tests including vibration, temperature cycling, weathering (e.g., weatherometers), corrosion, chemical resistance, abrasion, and tensile strength.
+ Prepare and process test samples: drilling, cutting, labeling, and organizing in data collection matrices.
+ Operate and program testing equipment and machinery with full proficiency.
+ Troubleshoot and maintain test equipment in the assigned area.
+ Compile, organize, and analyze technical data; prepare detailed test reports and documentation.
+ Collaborate with engineers to develop and execute test plans for specific automotive parts.
+ Identify and resolve routine to moderately complex technical issues.
+ Work independently on routine tasks and follow general instructions for new assignments.
+ Ensure all testing activities are completed within established timelines and quality standards.
Qualifications:
+ Associate degree in a related field with at least 6 years of relevant experience, or 8+ years of closely related hands-on experience in materials testing.
+ Strong understanding of physical testing methods and environmental simulation.
+ Proficiency in using and maintaining lab equipment such as tensile testers, weatherometers, and vibration rigs.
+ Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
+ Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
+ Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
