Job Title: Survey Party Chief

Job Description

The Survey Party Chief supervises and engages in technical survey engineering work, managing a field crew to execute various survey types such as boundary, topographic, ALTA/ACSM, and construction surveys. This role involves organizing daily field activities, training staff, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The Survey Party Chief is also responsible for performing field calculations, collecting data, and reporting project status to the office team.

Responsibilities

+ Lead and supervise field survey crews.

+ Plan and organize daily field activities.

+ Perform and oversee boundary, topographic, ALTA/ACSM, and construction surveys.

+ Conduct field calculations and collect accurate data.

+ Train and mentor junior staff members.

+ Maintain survey equipment and ensure safety compliance.

+ Report project status and progress to office staff.

Essential Skills

+ Experience leading survey crews.

+ Proficiency in GPS and robotic instruments.

+ Ability to perform survey calculations.

+ Strong documentation and communication skills.

+ Knowledge of surveying principles, equipment, and techniques.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Familiarity with PMI policies and procedures.

+ Experience with specific data collectors or instruments.

+ Knowledge of traffic control safety standards.

+ Experience with Total Station, Topcon, Trimble GPS, and AutoCAD.

+ Ability to perform algebra, geometry, and trigonometry calculations.

+ Strong leadership skills.

+ Experience interpreting construction plans and legal documents.

+ Familiarity with PMI safety, drug-free workplace, and personnel policies.

+ High school diploma or GED required.

+ Must be 18 years of age.

Work Environment

The role involves outdoor fieldwork in varying weather and terrain conditions, with exposure to construction sites, wildlife, and plant materials. Frequent lifting of 25 lbs and regular lifting up to 50 lbs is required. Travel up to 20% outside the area, including overnight and weekend stays, is expected. A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a DBIDS or Rapid Gate Pass are mandatory. Steel-toe boots are required.

This is a Permanent position based out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $66560.00 - $72800.00/yr.
