    Job Description

    The Printing Press Operator is responsible for the preparation and operation of a tandem (2-color) offset lithography press line with a trailing coater. This role demands considerable skill to maintain proper ink balance and registration, ensuring high-quality output.

    Responsibilities

    + Operate and maintain the tandem offset lithography press line with trailing coater.

    + Interpret orders for special setups and procedures, ensuring all necessary supplies such as press plates, inks, and color samples are available.

    + Set up the complete press with close tolerances, including mechanical gauging and setting of press plates, blankets, ink, and water rollers.

    + Oversee the function of the complete line of equipment, including the feeder and tender.

    + Train and supervise Press Feeder and instruct the oven tender on sheet piling methods for specific jobs.

    + Identify and separate spoiled sheets during the run for discarding or keeping separate.

    + Adjust oven heats for correct baking and check every load during the run.

    + Adjust ink for proper running, place it in the fountain, and adjust controls for proper coverage.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in printing press operations and troubleshooting.

    + Experience with set-up and operation of lithography machines.

    + Skill in mechanical adjustments and quality inspection.

    + Ability to maintain lithographic quality with correct color and registry.

    + Capability to adjust register and develop correct lay and color.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Ability to maintain constant skilled attention to detail.

    + Experience in supervising set-up of trailing coaters and ensuring quality coverage.

    + Skill in checking sheets at discharge for proper drying and color control.

    + Experience with retiming press registry systems and assembling color samples for ink room files.

    Work Environment

     

    The lithography department is climate controlled, fostering a close-knit culture. Shifts available include the second shift from 3pm to 11pm and the third shift from 11pm to 7am.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $72633.60 - $82388.80/yr.
