    Scraper Operator – $26–$32/hr + $830 Weekly Per Diem ($3200 a month on top of hourly)

     

    **Job Type:** Contract-to-Hire

    **Schedule:** Monday–Friday, 6 AM–6 PM (with potential for Saturdays and extended hours up to 14-hour days)

    Position Overview

    We are seeking an experienced **Scraper Operator** to join our earthmoving and grading team in Los Lunas, NM. This role is critical in preparing terrain for final grading by operating heavy equipment to cut, move, and level soil. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in mass grading and scraper operation, with a commitment to safety and professionalism.

    Compensation & Benefits

    + **Hourly Rate:** $26–$32/hr (based on experience)

    + **Per Diem:** $830/week (adds up to approx. $3,200/month)

    + **Mileage Reimbursement** for site transfers

    + **Overtime Potential:** 20–35 hours/week

    Key Responsibilities

    + Operate MTS 3630 Wheeled or Track Scrapers, MTS 745, CAT 627, and CAT 637 for rough grading.

    + Level terrain to prepare for final grading operations.

    + Perform daily pre- and post-operation equipment inspections.

    + Report equipment issues promptly to site management.

    + Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to site conduct standards.

    Required Qualifications

    + **3+ years** of experience operating scrapers on commercial mass grading projects.

    + Proficiency in heavy civil construction equipment including belly scrapers and earthmoving machinery.

    + Ability to work in rugged conditions and manage equipment effectively.

    + Valid driver’s license and insurability for company vehicle use.

    Preferred Skills

    + Experience with paddle wheel scrapers, especially in finishing work.

    + Strong understanding of scraper components: tractor, apron, bowl, and ejector.

    Work Environment

    + Active civil construction site with wide open terrain.

    + High safety standards aligned with OSHA protocols.

    + Fast-paced environment requiring strong situational awareness and communication.

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $32.00/hr.
