The Assistant Chief Nursing Officer is a key member of the nursing leadership team, supporting professional nursing practice that drives high quality, safe care leading to excellent patient experiences. This leader works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to drive positive change, grow services, support organizational initiatives while maintaining an expert nursing workforce. The Assistant Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for designing and monitoring the overall approach to the patient and family experience of the organization, providing leadership for the planning, implementation and evaluation of the nursing strategic plans to align with organization mission, vision, and values.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Collaborates with CNO to lead facility wide nursing initiatives
+ Role models professional nursing commitment and accountability for expert nursing care
+ Accountable for the execution of the Nursing Strategic Plan that is aligned with the Strategic Plan of the Albany Med Health System (AMHS)
+ Able to work collaboratively with hospital and community stakeholders
+ Uses Evidence Based Practice (EBP) framework in healthcare design
+ Collaborates with CNO and Director of Nursing Resources for annual capital and staffing budget planning
+ Participates as a member of the Hospital Labor Management Executive Team which includes negotiating a new NYSNA contract on a cycle outlined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), attending labor management meetings, advising on grievance resolutions, developing memorandum of agreements (MOAs) as necessary, and other assignments during the lifecycle of the CBA
+ In absence of CNO, represents nursing leadership
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree in nursing or related field in healthcare, education or leadership - required
+ Master's Degree in nursing or related field in healthcare, education or leadership - required
+ Doctorate Degree in nursing - preferred
+ 7-9 years of nursing experience - required
+ 4-6 years in a leadership role - required
+ Transformational leadership acumen displayed by excellent communication skills, demonstrates integrity, can motivate people in alignment to mission, vision and values of the organization
+ Knowledgeable of regulations applicable to the nursing scope of practice, ethics and nursing standards of care
+ RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in NYS Upon Hire - required
+ NEA-BC - Nurse Executive, Advanced Upon Hire - preferred
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
