Summary:
Under the direction of the Vice President Mission Integration, the Pastoral Minister ministers to clients, residents, patients, families, and associates in regard to religious/spiritual beliefs and emotional well-being. As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, and following the lead of Certified Clinical Chaplains , the Pastoral Minister provides spiritual and emotional support for clients/residents/patients, families, and staff within the context of illness, suffering, loss, and death. Pastoral Ministers receive referrals, completes Spiritual Assessments and documentation, as well as provide on-going ministry in Home and Community Based Care. The Pastoral Minister receives referrals and/or handoffs from the Certified Clinical Chaplains through department communications. Travel to patient's homes will be required.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION
+ Master's Degree in Pastoral Ministry or related field required
+ Two (2) units of Clinical Pastoral Education, required
+ Ecclesiastical Endorsements -
+ Must be in good standing to serve as a pastoral minister according to the code of ethics for spiritual care professionals and the standards of practice for professional chaplains. Should the pastoral minister characterize or hold themselves out to be a member of any religious clergy, he or she must be held as a member in good standing of same religious clergy or order at all times while employed at Catholic Health.
+ Completion of four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) within one (1) year required
+ Chaplain certification by professional national certifying agency for chaplaincy
+ Certification obtained within two (2) years after completion of CPE required
EXPERIENCE
+ A Pastoral Minister of the Catholic faith is preferred, with pastoral experience marked by demonstrated grasp of both the complexity of health care as a business and the unique moral, ethical and social expectations placed on the health care provider who claims a Catholic identity
+ Well-formed in Catholic tradition, knowledge of Catholic theology and Catholic social teaching
+ At least ten (10) years of experience in one or more of the following are recommended: health care, education, mission or spiritual care

+ Presentation and teaching skills
+ Ability to lead and coordinate prayer/Communion services
+ Ability to provide group facilitation and critical incident stress management
+ Knowledge of Advance Directives policy and ability to facilitate discussion with participant/family
