    Project Manager Trainee - Career Opportunity - San Diego, CA

    Job Description

    + The Project Manager plays a vital role in executing shipbuilding and repair projects by directing, coordinating, and supervising all project-related activities. This position ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet the required quality standards, all while maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.

    Responsibilities

    + Develop detailed project plans outlining the scope, timeline, resources, budget, and milestones.

    + Allocate and manage resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, to ensure efficient project progress.

    + Create and oversee project budgets, ensuring financial viability and cost control.

    + Develop and maintain project schedules, addressing any delays promptly.

    + Ensure all work meets required standards and specifications through inspections and quality control checks.

    + Enforce safety protocols and regulations for a safe working environment.

    + Maintain clear communication with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams, providing regular project updates.

    + Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to address issues proactively.

    + Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, and legal requirements.

    + Lead and coordinate project teams, providing direction, support, and motivation.

    + Address and resolve technical, logistical, or personnel issues during the project.

    + Prepare and present progress reports to senior management, clients, and stakeholders.

    + Manage contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors, negotiating changes effectively.

    + Continuously seek to improve project processes and implement innovative solutions.

    + Perform all other duties as assigned.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience in estimation, Navy, NAVSEA, program management, project management, and project scheduling.

    + 3 years of experience in overhaul, repair, alteration, and testing of Navy Vessels.

    + 1 year of specialized experience in planning and managing multiple projects in a shipyard environment.

    + 2+ years of administrative support experience, preferably in ship repair, manufacturing, or an industrial setting.

    + Experience with base/ship access procedures, especially for DoD or U.S. Navy work.

    + Knowledge of production documentation processes, including CFRs and workforce time reporting.

    + Recent experience in project management, including financial reporting, oral and written communications, interpersonal relations, and managerial techniques.

    + High attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with Workday or other timekeeping software is a plus.

    Work Environment

    + The work will be conducted at a shop and various yards and bases.

    Job Type & Location

    + This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, California.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
