    Stanford University (Stanford, CA)

    Apply Now

The Department of Urology at Stanford University School of Medicine seeks a fellowship-trained urologic oncologist to join our expanding East Bay Cancer Care Program. The position will be based at the Stanford Medicine - Sutter Health Cancer Center, a joint venture in Oakland, CA. This center will function as a central hub for comprehensive, multidisciplinary cancer care. The newly built Center features state-of-the-art outpatient clinic space, ambulatory surgery center, infusion treatment area, as well as diagnostic radiology and radiation oncology facilities. Inpatient surgical care will be provided primarily at the adjacent Alta Bates Summit Medical Center.

The candidate must have completed a Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO)-certified oncology fellowship and prior practice experience in an academic-affiliated program or private practice is highly valued. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a robust, sub-specialized clinical program, with a multidisciplinary approach working closely with the medical and radiation oncologists in the Center. They will be supported by a team of inpatient/outpatient advanced practice providers (APPs) and 24-hour hospitalist coverage. Emergency room coverage is not mandatory, except for established or postoperative patients. The position will include opportunities to participate in the education of fellows and residents and to participate in clinical research programs. Strong integration with the main Stanford campus in Palo Alto will be prioritized through hybrid faculty meetings, grand rounds, tumor boards, as well as research and teaching conferences. Ample access to clinical and academic mentorship will be available through the broader Stanford Urology Department and Stanford Cancer Center communities.

The position will be at the Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor level in the Clinician Educator (CE) Line at Stanford University. The major criterion for appointment for Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administration and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Academic rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

Stanford is an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. Stanford also welcomes applications from others who would bring additional dimensions to the University’s research, teaching and clinical missions.

The university’s central functions of research and education depend on freedom of thought, and expression. The Urology Department, School of Medicine, and Stanford University value faculty who will help foster an open and respectful academic environment for colleagues, students, and staff with a wide range of backgrounds, identities, and perspectives. Candidates may choose to include as part of their research and teaching statements a brief discussion about how their work and experience will further these values.

Interested candidates should submit their curriculum vitae and a brief cover letter describing their interest and experience.
