POSITION PURPOSE:
Responsible for accounting and reporting for all TVA fuel-related commodity costs including, but not necessarily limited to, natural gas, coal, reagents, emission allowances, hydro, nuclear fuel, power, and Renewable Energy Credits (REC's). Other areas of accounting responsibilities may include, but not be limited to, derivative accounting and reporting and TVA’s Fuel Cost Adjustment. Responsible for providing information for TVA’s SEC filings. Other accountabilities within these activities include, but may not be limited to, supporting TVA's financial statement integrity, supporting Sarbanes-Oxley control environment compliance, supporting the development of the annual fuel contracting plan, budget and forecast reporting, performing financial analysis, supporting business system development and integration, and supporting system and process improvements.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
+ Perform transactional accounting and account reconciliations for general ledger accounts, as appropriate.
+ Continuously improve accounting acumen by attending internal accounting training courses
+ Support and maintain a superior control environment by owning, complying with, certifying, and enhancing (as appropriate) Sarbanes-Oxley controls.
+ Support the development of related business systems that contain accounting transactions.
+ Support an environment of continuous improvement in Technology & Innovation, as well as accounting & control processes.
+ Budget and forecast preparation
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education— A Bachelor’s degree is required. Field of study in accounting or finance is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study, with related education, training & experience will be considered. An advanced degree in accounting, finance or business administration is desirable.
Experience— At least five years of experience in financial management, business systems and controls; preferably including experience in the utility industry.
Certification/License, etc.— Professional certifications (such as a Certified Public Accountant license) are encouraged.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities — Must have working knowledge of general business, financial systems and controls, computer skills, and financial analysis techniques. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to communicate clearly orally and in writing. Strong commitment to and skills in employee communication and the ability to build teamwork and convey mission, objective, expectations and philosophy. Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions.
