    About the Role

    A leading organization in the sustainable chemistry space is seeking a **Principal Scientist** to join its **Product & Technology Development team** within the **Water Solutions** business unit. Based in Atlanta, GA, this role offers a unique opportunity to lead the development of innovative water treatment technologies that directly support environmental goals and industry transformation.

     

    This is a hybrid role requiring a strategic thinker with strong technical expertise in water treatment, excellent project management skills, and the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Act as a subject matter expert in **water treatment technologies** and product development.

    + Lead complex, cross-functional **R&D and product development projects** , ensuring alignment with business strategy and customer needs.

    + Collaborate with internal teams (Applications, Sales, Manufacturing, IP, Regulatory, etc.) to commercialize innovative solutions.

    + Engage with key external stakeholders including **strategic customers, research institutes, and universities** .

    + Design and execute lab-scale and field trials to validate the performance and value of new technologies.

    + Develop custom test methods, application screening techniques, and prototype systems as needed.

    + Prepare clear, data-driven reports, technical documents, and customer-facing materials.

    + Support long-term innovation planning by transitioning early-stage concepts into formal development pipelines.

    + Travel up to 20% to support field trials, customer meetings, and collaboration activities.

    Qualifications

    + **Ph.D.** in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field with **5+ years** of industry experience— OR — **M.S.** in the same fields with **8+ years** of relevant industry experience

    + Deep understanding of **water treatment applications and technologies**

    + Proven success in taking products from concept through commercialization

    + Strong **project management, analytical, and communication skills**

    + Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional and customer-facing environments

    + Experience with **lab development, scale-up processes, and field testing**

    + Proficiency in data analysis, experimental design, and technical documentation

    + Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, innovation-driven setting
