    The Idaho Department of Labor supports individuals through career transitions, determine benefit eligibility, connect employers with works and oversee tax and labor law compliance.

     

    The Unemployment Insurance (UI) division at the IDOL is currently recruiting for multiple full-time Claims Specialists (Workforce Consultant). These positions will be located in the UI central office in Boise. These positions are instrumental in administering and navigating Idaho's unemployment benefits program. The ideal candidates will have strong oral communications skills, excellent problem-solving and organizational skills, high tolerance to stress, can work independently and has ability to work proficiently with computers and software programs.

    The ability to speak and read both Spanish and English fluently is preferred, but not a requirement for this position.

    Example of Duties:

    + Assist customers by phone, click to chat, or by email to provide detailed and clear instructions regarding unemployment insurance processes.

    + Provide employers and claimants with detailed and clear instructions regarding their rights and responsibilities.

    + Determine how to best serve a customer, particularly a customer with language, computer literacy, disabilities or other barriers and ensure they are provided quality customer service.

    + Provide technical assistance on filing a claim or take staff assisted claims where requested.

    + Review claims to determine unemployment insurance eligibility including gathering information through effective interview skills to determine program eligibility.

    + Data enter weekly certifications and respond to incoming emails.

    + Visit businesses for rapid response efforts, mass layoffs, or to provide mobile claims filing.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. You must attach a resume, work history and references to your application. Your resume and work history must clearly reflect how you meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Failure to do this may disqualify you from being considered for this position.

     

    + Experience conducting interviews and documenting information. Typically requires one year of experience OR six months of work experience conducting interviews and documenting information AND six credit hours of college coursework in which effective use of communications sills was clearly emphasized.

    + Experience assisting emotional, difficult or confrontational people and individuals from varying socio/economic/cultural backgrounds. Typically requires one year of work experience assisting emotional, difficult or confrontational people.

    + Experience determining and explaining eligibility or qualifications for programs and services. Typically requires at least six months of work experience determining eligibility or qualifications for programs and services.

    + Experience preparing professional written communication. Typically requires six months of work experience preparing professional written communication, including the creation of letters and other correspondence OR six credit hours college coursework in related field.

    + Experience using computer applications. Typically requires six months of experience using computer applications, including experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
