    Senior Accountant – Chemical Manufacturing Client (Pasadena, TX)

    • Location: Pasadena, TX

    • Reports To: Controller

    • Client Industry: Chemical Manufacturing

    • Partnered Through: Robert Half

     

    About the Role

     

    The Senior Accountant plays a key role in driving financial accuracy, process improvement, and operational efficiency to support the company’s growth. This is a hands-on position ideal for an energetic and experienced accounting professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys solving problems and improving systems.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Financial Oversight & Reporting

    + Assist Controller in managing accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems (Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018, GFS/SAP BPC, PIMs, URP).

    + Ensure compliance with IFRS standards and regulatory requirements.

    • Process Improvement & Support

    + Serve as backup for Billing/AR and AP functions.

    + Identify and implement process improvements (e.g., digitization, automation, filing systems).

    • Tax & Property Analysis

    + Monitor and resolve federal, state, and local tax issues.

    + Coordinate with tax preparers and reconcile GL accounts.

    + Analyze property tax data and consultant performance.

    • Forecasting & Budgeting

    + Support monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and ad hoc estimations.

    + Backup for global financial system (GFS) reporting.

    • Customer Rebates & Credit

    + Understand and manage rebate programs and accruals.

    + Analyze and monitor customer credit limits and requests.

    • Audit & Compliance

    + Assist in audits and prepare timely support documentation.

    + Champion internal controls and maintain compliance with foreign regulations (e.g., SOX-like standards).

    • Reporting & Training

    + Perform monthly financial reporting tasks.

    + Train accounting team members as needed.

    Requirements

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)

    • CPA or CMA (strong plus)

    • 5–15 years in Manufacturing and/or Chemical Industry (preferred)

    •️ ERP experience required – Great Plains a plus

    • Mastery of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
