Job Title: Laser Cutter Operator

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Laser Cutter Operator with extensive experience in laser cutting or a combination of leadership experience and laser cutting expertise. As a Laser Cutter Operator, you will be responsible for cutting, bending, punching, or boring through metal materials using laser technology. Your duties will include setting up cutting programs, performing maintenance, quality control, and shipping parts. You will also be responsible for organizing and maintaining the work area, monitoring stock levels, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.

Responsibilities

+ Operate laser cutting equipment to cut, bend, punch, or bore through metal materials.

+ Set up cutting programs and fixtures, establish stop locations, and adjust the laser beam focal point.

+ Perform maintenance, repair equipment, and reorder supplies as needed.

+ Check parts for quality and accuracy, and report any defective materials.

+ Package and ship parts efficiently.

+ Monitor stock levels and organize the work area.

+ Assist other departments as required.

+ Follow safety rules and wear proper safety equipment at all times.

Essential Skills

+ Ability to read a tape measure and micrometer.

+ Experience with nesting software.

+ Proficiency in blueprint reading and laser operation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with crane and forklift operation.

Work Environment

Work in a dynamic 2nd shift environment, hours are from 2pm-10:30pm, Monday-Friday. Enjoy a well-lit facility with large windows and a unique character. Please note that the environment is not climate-controlled in the summer months, but features large doors and fans for ventilation.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
