THE POSITION
Do you enjoy math, solving puzzles, and helping others? Do you love to learn? If so, these positions may be for you! The Pennsylvania State Employees' Retirement System (SERS) is seeking motivated, inquisitive, and detail-oriented individuals to serve as a Retirement Technician Trainees in our Benefits Determination Division. The employees in these positions will be promoted to Retirement Technicians upon successful completion of a one-year training program. Read on for more details!
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role you will be responsible for processing retirement and disability requests from the SERS regional counseling centers. This work involves reviewing various employment and earnings records to gather the necessary information required to compute the best benefit for each of our members. It requires a keen eye for detail and an ability to perform basic mathematic calculations. This is a trainee position, so we will teach you what you need to know. After successful completion of a 12-month training period, you will receive a promotion to Retirement Technician. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment
+ Multiple positions may be filled from this posting.
+ Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM with a 30-minute unpaid meal periodor8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with a 60-minute unpaid meal period, Monday – Friday.
+ Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, depending on operational needs and progress in learning assigned tasks. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
+ Three years of experience in advanced clerical or technical work which includes or is supplemented by either one year of experience applying basic computer skills and techniques or three (3) credits in computer basics and techniques;or
+ Associate Degree that includes or is supplemented by three (3) credits of computer basics and techniques;or
+ Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which includes one year of advanced clerical or technical work applying basic computer skills and techniques or three (3) credits of computer basics and techniques.
