    TheCollege of Veterinary Medicine (https://www.vetmed.auburn.edu/) seeks candidates for a **Veterinary Technician** position to work directly with the ER clinicians and rotating intern doctors to help facilitate quality client care and patient flow through theIMC ,ICU , and ER.

     

    It will be a monthly rotating day shift.

     

    Mon – Thurs 7am – 5pm and Fri – Sun 7am – 8pm.

    Essential Functions

    + Assists with administering treatments and monitoring patients admitted inIMC orICU , observes and records vital data, abnormal signs, body weight, food/water intake of animals, and collects and labels specimens and perform treatments and administer medications as prescribed by primary veterinarian.

    + Performs and demonstrates veterinary care techniques and procedures related to emergency and critical care medicine.

    + Assists veterinarians in the care of patients requiring advanced procedures and life-saving techniques includingCPR , mechanical ventilation and dialysis. Inspects facilities, equipment, and supplies daily, as well as observes health status of animals , environmental conditions , temperature , and sanitation.

    + Perform job duties with speed and accuracy and work as essential personnel, providing care for patients after hours, on weekends and holidays.

    + Assists with emergency triage and stabilization of patients presenting through the Emergency service.

    + May be responsible for, or assist in, billing clients, inputting charges, and/or similar tasks.

    + This position will work to provide care for patients after hours, on weekends, and holidays.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Depending upon a combination of education and experience, the finalist selected for this position will be hired as a Veterinary Technician – Inpatient and assigned levels I, II, orIII .

     

    **Level I:** Requires an Associate’s degree in Animal Science or related scientific field.

    **Level II:** Requires an Associate’s degree in Animal Science or related scientific field plus 2 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital environment.

    **LevelIII :** Requires an Associate’s degree in Animal Science or related scientific field plus 4 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital environment.

     

    Graduate degrees and above may substitute for years of experience.
