    This position has a residency waiver and will be accepting applications from residents and non-residents of Colorado. If appointed to a position, applicants from outside of Colorado will be required to relocate to Colorado prior to their start date, at their own expense

     

    This position will receive a short-staffing temporary pay differential of 4%.

    Description of Job

These opportunities will be based on vacancies at the time of offer and business needs. All work locations evaluated will remain within CMHHIP.

    About the Position:

    This position maintains a generalist set of clinical skills for a wide variety of medical procedures, assessments, and treatments delivered in a clinic setting at CMHHIP. This position maintains a high standard of quality nursing care in a dynamic role working in collaboration with a variety of practitioners in multiple settings. This position provides care to medical clinic patients seen by CMHHIP staff, specialty clinics by outside MDs, adult and pediatric admissions, and ECT treatments and recovery. This position provides nursing care in the Recovery Room for ECT patients, and is responsible for maintaining and coordinating the inpatient and outpatient weekly and monthly ECT schedules, communicating and coordinating with providers, nursing staff, and anesthesiologist for scheduling ECT treatments. This position is responsible for ordering all medications, medical supplies, and linens for the ECT recovery area. Working with the infection Control department, the employee will assist with immunizations and vaccines for patients and employees of CMHHIP. This position requires sound judgment, excellent communication skills, accountability for punctuality and attendance, and performs as a positive team member. This position assists in ensuring compliance with standards, rules, and regulations of governing bodies and accrediting agencies. This position is accountable to the Clinic RN III.

    Duties in this position include:

    Clinical Responsibilities:

    + Works in conjunction with internal and external providers to meet the demands of patient care during medical and specialty clinics scheduled on a daily/weekly basis.

    + Anticipates provider clinic needs in advance of patient appointments to assure clinics run smoothly.

    + Reviews and collects medical and legal information related to patient admissions to the hospital in advance of patient arrival.

    + Assures patient education, acute patient needs, and medical providers and admissions personnel to collect and share information and to ensure nursing reviews comply with nursing standards of care.

    + Routinely checks equipment and reports any malfunction of equipment and or potential hazards to the Clinic Supervisor.

    + Helps maintain inventory and ensure supplies are not outdated.

    + Maintains a safe and therapeutic treatment area by surveying the environment to be able to deliver safe and secure patient care.

    + Counsels and educates patients on medications, physical care needs, and psychiatric care needs in collaboration with providers.

    + Communicates the providers’ ordered treatments and other care that is provided in the clinic to unit staff and others as needed.

    + Ensures nursing standards of care and hospital policies/procedures are followed in the Clinic and Admissions.

    + Conducts and participates in scheduled shift emergency drills (Code 0 and fire) periodically to assess and maintain readiness of nursing staff to respond to crisis events.

    + Maintains a level of proficiency by renewing CPR and other mandatory clinical training as required.

    + Rotates among each area of the clinics; both HSFI and Admissions/Surgical Clinics as assigned by the supervisor.

    + Maintains proficiency and understands all clinic operations regardless of location to assure maximum efficiency at any given time.

    + Communicates with clinic scheduling staff and transport staff to assure emergent evaluations and follow-up appointments are scheduled appropriately.

    + Completes all mandatory educational requirements in Cornerstone and maintains current competencies as a registered nurse, and participates in the annual Nursing Competency Fair both as a participant and as an instructor.

    + Covers other shifts/days or locations to assure the clinic is staffed during all hours of operations.

    ECT Nurse and Outpatient Coordinator:

    + This position practices a professional level of care for patients in the ECT/ Recovery Room while working in collaboration with a variety of internal and external providers.

    + Provides direct patient care by receiving patients from the clinic and inpatient unit as well as outpatient services.

    + Gives pre-ECT medications and starts IVs as ordered. Cares for the patient through the ECT procedure and recovery phase.

    + Communicates patient status with receiving staff at discharge.

    + Completes all daily preparatory and post-ECT activities; reordering of supplies, cleaning, maintaining/updating patient ECT records.

    + Performs nursing assessment on patients, and documents findings in the Behavior Electronic Health Record (BEHR), communicates all relevant patient care information to providers and units prior to transfer/ discharge.

    + Maintains performance to uphold the best interest of the patient at all times.

    + Maintains active, unencumbered license status through Colorado DORA. Follows established guidelines and standards for cleaning/disinfecting equipment.

    + Leads and performs all ECT audits and participates in Tracer activities initiated by QSS for ECT/Recovery Room.

    + Maintains/archives ECT QA reports.

    + Orientation/training is provided to staff in ECT and working with the Clinic Supervisor assures all ECT competencies are evaluated annually. Ensures Joint Commission and other regulatory guidelines and requirements are followed for the ECT/Recovery Room.

    + Coordinates and publishes the weekly and monthly ECT patient schedules, and assures sufficient numbers of staff per patient caseload are scheduled each ECT day

    Communication and Continuity of Care:

    + Maintains open lines of communication with providers, unit staff, and clinic nursing staff and members of other departments.

    + Effectively communicates relevant information with coworkers, supervisors, and customers related to ECT treatments and scheduling to ensure the effectiveness of the department.

    + Collaborates with the Clinic Supervisor and the Department of Public Safety and Transport staff to ensure transport of high security patients.

    + Creates and publishes the weekly ECT schedule and rapidly communicates changes to the schedule to assure continuity of care and other documentation as deemed necessary and maintains patient confidentiality.

    + Inputs treatment data in appropriate programs for ECT patients.

    + Assists in providing patient and peer education, orientation, and training utilizing adult learning methods.

    + Communicates with supervisor regarding any problems, concerns, or changes related to the provision of patient care in the Clinic/ECT Recovery Room.

    Other Duties as Assigned:

    + Responsible for performance of assigned tasks and duties within the scope of practice for this position that do not fall within the realm of duty statements A-C.

    + May be floated for coverage needs to patient care units only after deemed competent in nursing skills in these areas AEB a demonstrated competency evaluation.

    + Any other duties that may need to be completed for the shift/unit and or department

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Applicants must possess a valid, active Registered Nurse License issued by the State of Colorado (Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) OR any state participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
