Position Summary
The Capital Planning Analyst is responsible for supporting the organization’s financial planning and analysis functions, with a focus on capital allocation, forecasting, and investment planning. This role will analyze capital projects, prepare financial models, and provide actionable insights to ensure alignment with the company’s strategic and financial objectives. The analyst will work closely with Finance, Operations, and Executive Leadership to support decision-making and optimize capital deployment.
Key Responsibilities
+ Capital Planning & Forecasting
+ Develop, maintain, and update capital planning models and long-range financial forecasts.
+ Support annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting processes, ensuring accurate reflection of capital projects and expenditures.
+ Track approved capital projects and monitor progress against budget, schedule, and strategic priorities.
+ Financial Analysis & Modeling
+ Prepare financial models to evaluate capital investments, including ROI, NPV, IRR, and payback analysis.
+ Conduct variance analysis between forecasted and actual capital expenditures.
+ Identify financial risks, opportunities, and trends that could impact capital planning.
+ Strategic Support
+ Partner with business units to evaluate capital requests and ensure alignment with corporate goals.
+ Provide recommendations on capital allocation to optimize return and support growth initiatives.
+ Prepare presentations and reporting packages for senior leadership, board meetings, and other stakeholders.
+ Compliance & Reporting
+ Ensure compliance with corporate policies, financial controls, and regulatory requirements related to capital expenditures.
+ Support internal and external audits with capital-related documentation.
+ Maintain accurate and timely reporting of capital expenditures and commitments.
Qualifications
+ Education:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
+ Experience:
+ 3–5 years of experience in financial planning, corporate finance, capital planning, or investment analysis.
+ Experience in government contracting or large-scale project planning is a plus.
+ Skills & Competencies:
+ Strong financial modeling, analytical, and quantitative skills.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial planning software (e.g., Adaptive Insights, Hyperion, or similar).
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to present complex data clearly.
Work Environment & Location
+ Hybrid/Remote flexibility, depending on company policy.
+ Occasional travel may be required for meetings, site visits, or corporate events.
