About DTMB:

The Department of Technology, Management and Budget (https://youtu.be/H\_IrVnVjcoA) supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems.

About this position:

This position serves as the sole authority responsible for overseeing and executing all functions related to Agency Software Asset Management (ASAM). This position functions as the ASAM Coordinator and license compliance specialist responsible for all DTMB software tracking. Serving as the expert on software asset management and license compliance, this position provides strategic oversight of all software-related activities within DTMB—including purchasing, deployment, reassignment, exception handling, financial tracking, inventory control, and audit preparedness—to ensure full lifecycle governance and regulatory adherence. This position develops, updates, and maintains documented policies and procedures related to highly complex software management processes and functions across DTMB. This position collaborates cross-functionally with all agency divisions to gather data necessary for informed decision-making regarding software selection, license volume optimization, and the strategic planning of efficient software deployment across the enterprise. The ASAM serves as the strategic liaison bridging end users and IT—including Procurement, the Software Asset Management Office (SAMO), Agency Services, and Enterprise Security and Risk Management (ESRM)—to ensure alignment amongst operational needs.

Position Location:

This position is located in Lansing, MI. This position may work a hybrid (remote/office) schedule with 2 days required in the office per week. Selected candidates who have been approved to work a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.

Required Education and Experience

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience

Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.

Equivalent combinations of nonprofessional experience, identified by the appointing authority and approved by Civil Service that are represented by subclass codes, will be accepted for classified, professional experience equivalent to the P11-level and above. The nonprofessional experience must be related to departmental programs and services that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certain positions may be assigned subclass codes and individuals appointed must possess the required specialized experience.
