The Welder junior performs intermediate welding tasks, including preparing, assembling, and joining metal parts. The role involves working on various welding techniques under the guidance of senior welders to ensure high-quality and safe fabrication of metal structures. The welder junior can work consistently and accurately without compromising quality and production standards.
Key Responsibilities
+ Intermediate knowledge of reading production instructions, processes, and procedures, including interpreting and translating engineering designs and documentation.
+ Can perform intermediate welding operations and steel mill rework/fabrication for mast arms.
+ Design, cut, and permanently join copper and/or aluminum parts using appropriate welding techniques, high-heat equipment, and welding processes such as MIG, TIG, and silver solder.
+ Maintain and repair welding equipment to ensure it is in good working condition and adhere to safety protocols.
+ Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, wearing appropriate protective gear and ensuring a safe working environment.
+ Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet required specifications and quality standards, making necessary adjustments or repairs.
+ Maintain accurate work records, including materials used and time spent on assigned tasks.
+ Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
+ Read and comprehend verbal and written instructions and work in a team environment.
+ Proficiency in welding techniques and blueprint and welding symbols, including qualifying for pipe welding, and the ability to pass the Aluminum Coupon Test.
+ Ability to troubleshoot and resolve welding-related issues.
+ Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Work Environment
+ Manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and temperature variations.
+ Employees may frequently be required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. They may lift and/or move up to 45 pounds without help.
+ Walking and standing on the Plant floor.
Education and Experience
+ High school diploma, GED, or vocational school with certification in welding preferred.
+ One to three years of welding experience preferred
+ Tow motor and crane/rigging experience preferred.
