    The Offshore Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing safe and effective oil spill response operations in an offshore and nearshore environment. This role ensures crew safety, operational readiness, and customer satisfaction while managing site budgets and maintaining all assigned equipment in a response-ready condition. The Offshore Operations Supervisor leads by example, demonstrating strong leadership, technical knowledge, and a commitment to training and mentoring response personnel. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

     

    + Enforce and promote MSRC safety procedures and policies , including hazard assessments, PPE usage, and emergency response protocols.

    + Supervise and coordinate Offshore Operations response crews and contractors during operations, assigning tasks, monitoring performance against established standards, and fostering a culture of safety and operational excellence.

    + Assess crew competencies and proactively mentor personnel to support continuous skill development and operational readiness.

    + Maintain open and effective communication with customers, contractors, internal teams, and key agencies, including the USCG, BSEE, and relevant state authorities.

    + Ensure crew certifications, training records, and Offshore Operations readiness requirements are up-to-date and compliant.

    + Manage Offshore Operations budgets, monitor expenditures, and indentify cost-saving opportunitites while maintaining safety and operational performance standards.

    + Ensure all Offshore Operations equipment and vessels are maintained in accordance with MSRC standards, utilizing eMOS or equivalent systems, with no overdue maintenance.

    + Lead drills, exercises, and mobilizations with a focus on safety, preparedness, accuracy, and efficiency.

    + Supervise seamanship activities, including safe vessel handling, effective navigation, and proper deployment and recovery of Offshore  Operations equipment in accordance with company and regulatory standards.

    + Provide direct oversight and leadership to Offshore Operations personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    + High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

    + Seamanship skills , including vessel handling, navigation, and equipment deployment and recovery.

    + Oil spill response, emergency response, and/or equipment maintenance experience required.

    + Ability to troubleshoot equipment as needed and provide instruction for repairs and preventative maintenance.

    + Proficiency in PPE, ICS, ACPs/GRPs and spill response tactics for local area of operation.

    + Prior experience in mentoring and leading a team, as well as proven success in employee development.

    + Basic budgeting experience preferred.

    + Proficient in computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

    + Competent public speaker with the ability to present information to all levels, both internally and externally.

    + Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

    + Possess or obtain a Passport, and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

    + Successful completion of a 40 Hour HAZWOPER training course.

    + Ability to be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as required.

    + Travel as required by business need.

    + Participate in MSRC’s Drug and Alcohol Program and Medical Surveillance Program.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    + Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy equipment in offshore conditions.

    + Must work on vessels and platforms in rough seas, in confined spaces, and on slippery or uneven surfaces.

    + Required to climb ladders and scaffolding and remain on feet for extended periods.

    + Must withstand exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, and vibration.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    This role operates primarily in offshore environments, including vessels, barges, and remote locations. Work is conducted in all weather conditions and may include long hours, shift work, and rotational schedules. The noise level may be loud, and duties may involve handling hazardous materials and operating mechanical equipment.  This job description does not cover all activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
