    About Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (MVRCS)

     

    Founded in 1998, Mystic Valley Regional Charter School in Malden, MA serves more than 1,750 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12.     Students at MVRCS attend school for 200 days annually, with a school day that extends 60 minutes longer than most traditional public schools. This additional time allows us to maximize instructional opportunities and further support student success.

     

    K–8 Music Teacher

     

    The Music Teacher will lead Mystic Valley’s K–8 music program, guiding students through artistic growth, performance, and skill development. Instruction follows the Core Knowledge curriculum and emphasizes performance, composition, and coaching students to reach their full musical potential.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Deliver high-quality instruction aligned with the documented curriculum

    + Design string lessons with clear, measurable objectives that foster student growth

    + Assess student performance regularly and provide timely progress updates

    + Collaborate with fellow Specials teachers and communicate effectively with the assigned Assistant Director

    + Implement the school’s assertive discipline model to create a safe, structured learning environment

    + Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events

    + Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Director

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field (required)

    + Strong verbal and written communication skills

    + Proven ability to analyze information, solve problems, and recommend effective solutions

    + Capacity to build positive, supportive relationships with students, families, and colleagues

    + Knowledge of state and federal education regulations, school policies, and MVRCS procedures

    + Demonstrated skill in teaching strings, coaching, and fostering student engagement

    + Excellent organizational skills to balance multiple priorities

    + Ability to design and deliver engaging lessons tailored to diverse learners and aligned with school goals

    + Successful completion of required MTEL exams within the first year of employment

    Reporting Structure

    This is a full-time, school-year position reporting to the Assistant Director. Performance is evaluated annually, and appointments are subject to yearly renewal.
