Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. The role of the Hot Metal Crane Operator is to safely operate the hot metal crane during operations and during times of maintenance at the facility. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to transporting molten metal for the operation, emptying ladles after processing, coordinating the operations with the entire melt shop team, and to cross train other team members in the hot metal crane operator position. Job responsibilities will include operating a cab controlled overhead crane and working around molten steel and slag.

Minimum Qualifications:

+ Willingness to work a flexible schedule and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.

+ Ability to withstand working conditions with elevated temperatures.

+ Ability to lift moderate to heavy weight (50 lbs.)

+ Ability to sit for long periods of time

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Current or previous experience working in Melt Shop
