    Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network.     Based in Merritt Island, Florida at our primary processing facility, the Kuiper EHS manager will help support, develop, communicate, train, drive, manage, audit, improve, and measure Amazon’s Kuiper EHS performance. This role will include developing and enhancing EHS compliance and risk management processes. The EHS manager will lead initiatives to improve EHS performance across the Kuiper portfolio by promoting understanding, fostering engagement, influencing business unit leaders, and embedding EHS practices into daily operations.

     

    Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

     

    Key job responsibilities

     

    - Support the development, management, implementation and maintenance of comprehensive safety, health and environmental programs and training designed to prevent injury or occupational illness to employees and to protect the environment.

     

    - Coordinate activities as they relate to safety, health and environment at the site in order to reduce occupational injuries, illnesses and environmental impact

     

    - Perform department specific safety surveys using inspection forms to ensure employees are utilizing safe work practices such as utilizing proper PPE, minimizing trip hazards, wearing fall protection etc.

     

    - Perform risk assessments related to jobs performed (Job Hazard Analysis) for new processes and equipment

     

    - Conduct site inspections to identify hazards, potential risks and help drive improvements while recommending appropriate risk mitigation measures to management, including ergonomics, fall protection, electrical safety, hazard and risk assessments, hazardous waste, air quality and storm water pollution prevention plan

     

    - Support and conduct EHS audits, developing action plans to resolve findings, and implement countermeasures promptly and effectively.

     

    - Perform environmental inspections of the site at required cadence. This includes RCRA, stormwater, wastewater, SPCC, air permits and any other applicable permit or agency

     

    - Establish, manage and participate in safety committee functions

     

    - Available to work flexible shifts including days, nights and/or weekends and travel to French Guiana.

    A day in the life

     

    Based in Merritt Island, FL, the EHS Manager role will support the development and execution of Amazon Kuiper’s EHS compliance programs.

     

    This role is accountable for supporting development and implementation of EHS programs, tools and standards aligned to Kuiper Global EHS policies. Key to this role is building and maintaining strong relationships with all levels of the organization from leadership to individual workers to support them in determining best in class methods to achieve compliance.

    Basic Qualifications

    - 5+ years of occupational health & safety experience

     

    - Experience managing 2+ direct reports

     

    - Experience implementing safety protocols and compliance measures

     

    - Proven record of conducting safety assessments and hazard identification

     

    - Experience developing and recommending safety improvements

     

    - Ability to evaluate new equipment and processes for safety concerns

     

    - Experience creating safety reports and presenting to leadership

     

    - Ability to manage facility safety and risk prevention initiatives

    Preferred Qualifications

    - 3+ years working in an aerospace environment

     

    - Provided EHS functional leadership and supervision of staff at an operable processing facility

     

    - Developing EHS standards, policies, and procedures to implement and lead EH&S programs at an operable processing facility

     

    - Has Provided environmental health and safety technical expertise on hazardous operations, launch operations, operation of hazardous systems, process design and operating procedures

     

    - Monitoring compliance with Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, and state-specific environmental regulations

     

    - Preparing and submiting regulatory reports including TRI, air emissions inventories, and discharge monitoring reports

     

    - Manage environmental permits including NPDES, air quality, and stormwater permits

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $227,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
